GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Senior Loss Prevention Officer reports to the Loss Prevention Manager and assists in supervising the Loss Prevention team. The role requires communicating departmental expectations, leading team efforts to achieve goals, and providing guidance and support to ensure the team has the information, equipment, and tools to succeed. Responsibilities include managing shrink and safety results, detecting and deterring theft, ensuring compliance with company policies and safety protocols, providing safety awareness training, and overseeing daily operations of third‑party contracts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise and direct the Loss Prevention team per company policies and the LP case management system.
  • Monitor workflow, adjust tasks, and ensure time‑keeping compliance.
  • Provide performance feedback and disciplinary action in collaboration with the Loss Prevention Manager and Human Resources.
  • Deliver regular Loss Prevention training and support individual development.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee and employment‑related information.
  • Promote a culture of safety and apply best practices across all company locations.
  • Collaborate with Inventory Management to investigate discrepancies and provide training to employees.
  • Develop incentive programs to reduce shrink and enhance safety awareness.
  • Detect, investigate, and resolve internal and external theft incidents; recover assets and execute apprehensions.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of CCTV equipment.
  • Write reports, maintain records, and preserve evidence accurately.
  • Act as liaison between company locations and the criminal justice community.
  • Represent the company with professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, customers, vendors, suspected shoplifters, and authorities.
  • Prepare and present documents to local authorities and testify in court when necessary.
  • Maintain required documents, logs, and evidence in appropriate media.
  • Monitor assigned locations for safety and report exceptions.
  • Travel to assigned company locations as required.
  • Demonstrate reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance.
  • Attend company‑provided training, seminars, or conferences.
  • Work assigned and varying shifts.
  • Perform additional tasks and duties as requested by a supervisor.
  • Daily: manage emails, issue status reports with store staff, execute shrink‑reduction tactics, apprehend shoplifters.
  • Weekly: establish priorities, complete restitution paperwork, analyze currency overages/shortages, ensure physical security controls, clean and maintain CCTV.
  • Monthly: attend RVLPA meetings and safety meetings; keep DPSST certification current; provide updates to the Loss Prevention Manager.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise all Loss Prevention Officers as directed by the Loss Prevention Manager.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; OR three to five years of related experience and/or training; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL, REASONING, AND OTHER SKILLS
  • Read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and regulations.
  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Add, subtract, multiply, divide, compute rates and ratios, and interpret bar graphs.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Become DPSST certified as Supervisory Manager and Unarmed Professional.
  • Complete and pass all required loss prevention training.
  • Use electronic information systems for data research and entry.
  • Follow company guidelines for theft, safety, and security situations.
  • Recall and record details of events accurately and completely.
  • Understand basic CCTV operation and video management.
  • Make decisions in stressful situations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prioritize tasks and use time efficiently.
  • Sense of urgency toward work requirements and responsibilities.

Salary Information

$21.85 - $26.70 per hour.
