Job Overview
As a General Facilities Maintenance Technician at a Walmart retail store, you will perform routine maintenance, inspections, repairs, and emergency response to ensure safe and functional facilities and equipment. Working under the supervision of the Local General Maintenance Manager, you will adhere to maintenance schedules, manage work orders, and use both hand and power tools to address various trade issues.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and repair Walmart facilities, equipment, and assets using multiple craft skills (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, food equipment) and tools.
- Utilize the work order management system to receive reactive repair work orders, support stores and associates, and document repair activities.
- Provide prompt response to emergency maintenance calls.
- Inspect, operate, or test facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues.
- Complete all required training requirements to operate equipment and tools safely.
- 18 years or older.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, work at heights, and work in varying temperatures.
- Valid state‑issued driver's license with a clean driving record; must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report.
- Vocational or Technical certification and 1 year experience, or 2 years total work experience, in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or a related trade.
- Vocational or Technical certification and 3 years’ experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related trade (or 5 years’ experience in same).
- Completion of a 2‑year vocational or technical trade program.
- License in related trade in the city/state where job is located.
- Intermediate level proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
