Surgical Tech, Medical Assistant
Full Time Operating Room Technician supports surgeons and the surgical team by preparing and maintaining the sterile field, managing instruments and supplies, and ensuring patient safety throughout procedures. The role requires strict adherence to aseptic technique, accurate instrument counts, and effective collaboration in a fast-paced operating room environment.
Key Responsibilities:Assist the surgical team during basic operating procedures.
Prepare and maintain the sterile field according to surgeon preference cards.
Arrange, organize, and inventory sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies needed for surgical procedures.
Follow proper surgical aseptic techniques at all times.
Recognize and immediately report any break in sterile technique.
Perform appropriate surgical hand scrubbing, gowning, and gloving procedures.
Assist with appropriate surgical draping of patients.
Pass instruments and other surgical equipment to the surgeon in the prescribed manner.
Participate in sponge, needle, and instrument counts before, during, and after procedures to help ensure patient safety.
Properly identify, preserve, and prepare operative specimens for analysis.
Maintain awareness of the sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
Ensure the patient's skin is appropriately cleaned of blood and other solutions before final dressings are applied as directed by the surgeon.
Completion of an Operating Room Technician or Surgical Technologist program desired.
Current CPR certification required.
Certified Surgical Technologist CST certification desirable but not required.
Demonstrated knowledge of surgical aseptic technique and sterile field procedures.
Ability to perform essential operating room functions in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
Must be able to participate in an on-call rotation and report to the hospital within 15 minutes when required.
Maintain composure, professionalism, and effectiveness under pressure in a high-stress operating room environment.
Communicate effectively and collaborate with surgeons, nurses, surgical technologists, anesthesia professionals, and other team members.
Pay strong attention to detail, commit to patient safety, maintain confidentiality, and follow healthcare standards and policies.
Skills:
Training or education in surgical technology, operating room procedures, or a related healthcare field preferred.
You have an Operating Room Technician or Surgical Technologist certification. You can maintain sterile fields and follow aseptic techniques flawlessly. You thrive under pressure and respond to on-call quickly
