Produce Manager

Hourly rate based on experience, $21.00 is starting pay. Also eligible for quarterly bonus based on performance.

Lead one of our busiest, most visible departments.

As Produce Manager, you'll own the day-to-day success of the produce department - from the quality on the tables to the team behind the counter. You'll lead a team 6-10 people, set the pace for freshness and service, and be the go-to expert for everything produce in a high-volume store.

This role requires open availability with shifts falling between 6am–10pm, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN:
  • Full accountability for the produce department's quality, freshness, presentation, and profitability
  • Setting product assortment and inventory levels, and ordering to meet demand based on sales trends and forecasts
  • Creating production sheets and building the department schedule to hit coverage and labor goals
  • Pricing accuracy and signage across the department, with special attention to ad items
  • Department cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance standards
  • Hiring, training, mentoring, and developing produce and fresh-cut associates - including honest, direct performance feedback
  • Quarterly inventory for all produce department products
  • Active participation on the Safety Committee, championing safety for associates and customers alike
  • Clear, consistent communication with the Store Directors
  • Delivering hands-on, exceptional customer service and setting the standard for the team
WHAT YOU BRING:
  • Two+ years of produce department experience preferred; prior leadership experience a strong plus
  • Current Food Handler's Permit
  • Deep product knowledge - fruits, vegetables, fresh salsa and guacamole, fresh-pack items - and how to prepare them
  • Strong leadership and conflict-resolution skills; comfortable managing a diverse team
  • Sharp organizational and planning skills, with sound judgment for day-to-day decisions
  • A self-directed, mission-driven attitude with a genuine commitment to team success
  • Open availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • High school diploma or GED; some college preferred
THE WORK ITSELF:

This is an active, hands-on role - expect to be on your feet throughout the shift, lifting and moving product up to 50 lbs, and working in a store environment that includes cold, wet, or slippery conditions at times.
