Job Description

Job Title: ARD Facilitator Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Department/School: Assigned Campuses Pay Grade: Pay Grade 3 (195 contract)

Reports to: Coordinator of Special Education Date Revised: 5/2023

Primary Purpose

The ARD manager will implement the special education Admissions, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) process, including the coordination, planning, and preparation of IEP compliance documents for students eligible for Special Education services. Assess the educational, learning styles, and program needs of students referred to special education services. Work cooperatively with instructional personnel to provide the most appropriate programs for students with disabilities.

Qualifications
  • Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Education
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate
  • Enrolled in a Master’s degree program for educational diagnostician (preferred)
  • Special Knowledge/

    Skills:

    Excellent organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of the ARD process, education of special education students, human development, and learning theories
  • Experience: Three years teaching experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties Assessment
  • Collect and organize relevant data in preparation for Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meetings.
  • Conduct classroom observations and interviews.
  • Participate in ARD Committee meetings to assist with the appropriate development of Individual Education (IEP) for students according to district procedures.
Consultation
  • Provide staff development training in assigned schools to assist school personnel in identification and understanding of students with disabilities.
  • Assist classroom teachers with implementation of the IEP.
  • Consult parents/guardians concerning the educational needs of students.
  • Consult parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and other relevant individuals to enhance their work with students.
Program Management
  • Schedule and participate in ARD meetings in collaboration with school staff, assessment and related service personnel, and parents/guardians.
  • Prepare and send required compliance documents and electronic communications to parents/guardians/adult students.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in decision making, especially in difficult circumstances. Develop and maintain effective individual and group relationships with students and parents.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the areas of assessment, placement, and planning for special education services.
  • Comply with all district and local campus routines and regulations.
  • Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment.
Communication
  • Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors.
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and parents.
Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Working Conditions

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Regular district wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned; moderate lifting and carrying and prolonged use of a computer. May be required to lift and transfer students to and from wheelchair or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities.
