Special Education Aide
The primary purpose is to assist under professional supervision in the monitoring and instruction of special education students with a variety of physical, emotional, behavioral, or instructional needs within typical or specialized classroom settings. The employee assists in implementation of instructional, self-help, and behavior management strategies in order to facilitate student success in a variety of settings.
Education/
Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in an educational environment preferred;
Pass an academic assessment administered by GCISD; OR
48+ hours of study in higher education, Associates Degree or higher;
An Educational Aide Certification; may be applied for once employed

Responsibilities and Duties:
Equipment Used:
Wheelchair lift, ramps, student adapted equipment, personal computer, copier, and audio/visual equipment.
Mental/Physical/Environmental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress in a professional manner.
Frequent standing stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling; lifting of students.
Assistance with student hygiene needs may be required.
