Application Engineer

Eaton’s ES AMER NAS division is currently seeking a Application Engineer in Austin, TX, Grapevine, TX, Houston, TX, or San Antonio, TX. The role may involve travel and requires regional expertise.

The Application Engineer is a consultative, technical sales professional responsible for supporting electrical consultants (power system designers) and in‑house engineering staff at end‑user customers, helping to specify critical power infrastructure for data centers and other commercial, institutional, government, and hyperscale markets. This includes electrical power distribution, power quality, and control.

• Support electrical engineers at consulting firms serving the Gulf region, aiding technical design and positioning Eaton products.
• Act as primary point of contact for technical and engineering support for in‑house engineering staff and design teams at the assigned customer account base.
• Serve as a technical expert within the Gulf Region Mission Critical team, offering comprehensive support to sales engineers and account managers for Eaton’s full portfolio.
• Aid the team on large bids including submittals, drawings, technical interpretation, and interfacing with consultants and owners.
• Facilitate technical collaboration between customer base and Eaton’s product lines, supporting product innovation and providing design recommendations based on customer needs.
• Conduct product seminars and training on Eaton products at consultant firms and key end customers.
• Provide mentoring and training to Gulf Region sales engineers across multiple verticals.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum seven (7) years of electrical sales/marketing and/or engineering experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
• Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.
• No relocation benefit is offered; candidates must reside within 50 miles of Austin, TX, Grapevine, TX, Houston, TX, or San Antonio, TX (Active‑Duty Military Service members exempt).

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• A Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• LEED AP certification.
• Extensive electrical engineering experience.
• Knowledge of Eaton electrical products, services, and competitors.

• Technical knowledge of critical power solutions, including medium and low voltage switch gear, panel boards, and protective relaying.
• Experience with UPS systems, power distribution units, static transfer switches, remote power panels, power monitoring, and control products.
• Strategic understanding of the U.S. power distribution and data center market.
• Ability to write technical specifications that enhance Eaton’s competitive position.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting at all levels.
• Presentation, training, and self‑management capabilities.
• Problem‑solving skills and proven ability to find creative solutions.
• Value‑selling experience.

The compensation range for this full‑time position includes base pay and target sales performance incentive, with a target total compensation range of $143,250 - $210,100.
