Job Summary

The Commercial Relationship Manager is responsible for developing, retaining, and growing commercial business relationships, with an emphasis on lower Middle Market/Middle Market commercial clients.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Conduct client/prospect development on a daily or weekly basis depending on client availability.
  • Build knowledge of all clients and prospects by completing in-depth profiling of commercial business owners and other principals.
  • Maintain a portfolio of lower middle market to middle market commercial banking clients, especially those exceeding $20MM in annual revenue.
  • Understand client needs and recommend appropriate products, services, or solutions.
  • Collaborate with all areas of the bank and partners to fully grasp commercial client and business owner needs.
  • Structure complex commercial credit transactions, including commercial real estate, business & guidance lines of credit, M&A, equipment financing, and SBA credit facilities.
  • Consult with clients to identify objectives, financial needs, and implement suitable financial solutions.
  • Work with Treasury Management to align commercial customer needs with depository, cash management, and investment solutions.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by handling requests directly or referring to the appropriate channel.
  • Proactively seek new business relationships.
  • Collect and analyze financial data to assess general creditworthiness and merits of credit requests.
  • Understand and analyze financial statements, tax returns, and related documents to make accurate credit decisions.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of banking operations and related products.
  • Prepare and present loan information to committees as required.
  • Negotiate and establish terms for credit extension when necessary.
  • Monitor loan repayment and take action to collect past due accounts.
  • Participate in community affairs to increase bank visibility and generate new business opportunities.
  • Promote a positive team spirit by balancing responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise 1–2 employees, directing workload, creating schedules, approving time off, ensuring acceptable performance, and handling other managerial duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of relationship management experience, preferably with commercial or middle‑market customers.
  • Minimum 5 years of banking experience, including C&I lending, treasury management, depository, and other commercial products.
  • Minimum 5 years of credit experience (credit analyst, loan portfolio management, loan review, or equivalent), with proven ability to analyze financial statements and make sound credit decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills: attentive listening, high comprehension, and effective response to promote a positive impression.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong business development and people skills to promote and represent the bank during all times.
  • 5 years in industrial heavy equipment, transportation, and aviation lending is a plus.
  • 5 years in franchise finance is a plus.
Computer and Office Equipment Skills

Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Physical Requirements

Regularly required to sit for long periods, walk, stand, talk, hear, use hands and fingers (manual dexterity), use a telephone, and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required: close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Mental Requirements

Ability to solve problems, make decisions, interpret data, organize information, and communicate verbally and in writing.
