Position Summary

Clean and maintain all items and surfaces in designated areas, ensuring hotel's standards of cleanliness.

Work Environment

Lobby area, Guest and Service Corridors, Back of the house area, Banquet area, Restaurant area. Job may involve working:

  • Under variable temperature conditions (or extreme heat or cold).
  • Around fumes and/or odor hazards.
  • Around dust and/or mite hazards.
  • Around chemicals.
  • Around bio-hazards.
  • Overnight hours (10:30 pm – 7 am)
Responsibilities
  • Clean and disinfect assigned public spaces including but not limited to: lobby, restaurant, public restrooms, ballrooms, hallways, etc.
  • Transport any food and beverage trays/items in public areas to service areas.
  • Check under furniture for debris and remove if present; reposition furniture to correct floor plan.
  • Inspect condition of all furniture for tears, rips and stains and report damages to Supervisor. Dust and polish all woodwork.
  • Remove all dust, debris and foreign particles from upholstered furniture, including crevices and under cushions.
  • Dust pictures, frames, mirrors, fire extinguisher boxes, exit signs, air vents.
  • Clean all lamps, light fixtures and light switches; check for proper working condition.
  • Remove dust, spots and smears from windows, frames and ledges; wash windows as assigned.
  • Remove dust, grease and smears from house/public phones and reposition properly. Replace soiled/damaged phone books.
  • Remove dust on drapes weekly and realign to correct position daily.
  • Inspect condition of planters and plants; remove debris, polish planters.
  • Remove dust, dirt, marks and fingerprints from doors and door frames.
  • Remove stains, scuff marks, and dust from baseboards, ledges and corners.
  • Polish all brass surfaces.
  • Empty trash containers, ashtrays and ash urns in public areas.
  • Remove trash; debris and cobwebs from balconies/patios.
  • Empty vacuum cleaner bags, replace and clean machines.
  • Remove soil, dirt, soap build-up and hair from public and employee bathroom mirrors, vanities, sinks, toilets/urinals, shower walls, shower curtains and floors.
  • Replace facial and toilet tissues, paper hand towels, soaps in correct amount and location.
  • Report any damages or maintenance problems to the Supervisor.
  • Turn over any lost and found items to the Supervisor.
  • Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to OSHA regulations and Company safety/sanitation requirements.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
  • Report all maintenance problems for guest satisfaction.
  • Responsible for turning in all lost and found articles to the Housekeeping Office to be logged.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures, including all safety and sanitation policies. Works in a safe manner when handling heavy loads or heavily soiled linen, including using PPE’s.
  • Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
  • Understands the emergency procedures for the Housekeeping department and the entire Hotel.
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends, and/or overtime.
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the manager. Furthermore, tasks and responsibilities may be added or revised based on the volume of business and the need for the work to be completed at the present time.
Qualifications
  • Organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to be well groomed, clean and neat.
Experience
  • Previous Housekeeping experience preferred but not required.
Physical Demands
  • Perform strenuous activities such as standing for extended periods (over 4 hours a day); walking (over 4 hours a day); stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, twisting (over 4 hours a day); and manipulating large and small objects.
  • Carrying or lifting 50 lbs.
  • Fast-paced work environment.
Required Personal Protective Equipment

Closed toe, non-canvas and non-skid soled shoes.
