Director of Supply Chain

Job Summary

Director of Supply Chain plans, develops, and implements integrated supply chain functions for Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH). This includes supply chain management, strategic sourcing, procurement, logistics, bio‑medical services, vendor management, and supply chain technology. The role develops and implements a system‑wide supply chain strategy, policies, and practices that meet service and quality standards, manage total costs, and align with BSWH business goals.

Responsibilities include directing the distribution of supplies and equipment throughout the organization, improving the flow of equipment and materials, and directing studies on service efficiency, key performance metrics, cost effectiveness, and benchmarking for planning and forecasting. The Director collaborates with leadership in procurement, logistics, finance, and other departments to drive improvement in supply chain management processes across the BSWH system and ensures compliance with all safety, legal, and regulatory requirements impacting BSWH supply chain programs.

• Directs the supply chain function for assigned area of responsibility in BSWH.
• Recommends and implements strategic and operational plans and goals for supply chain aligned with BSWH overall business objectives.
• Directs supply chain daily operations including receiving, inventory management, order fulfillment, and distribution ensuring high efficiency and customer service levels.
• Manages the cost examination of supply chain components and recommends potential cost reductions and service enhancements to senior leadership for review.
• Directs and monitors the handling, movement, acquisition, and disposition of assets, ensuring the availability of supplies and equipment.
• Manages the development and implementation of standardized programs for supply chain functions, including master file standardization, inventory cleanup, and new technology integration.
• Promotes quality improvement efforts for supplies and more effective techniques to control quality, reliability, and accuracy of inventory and data.
• Directs improvement initiatives for supply chain programs to implement best practices, improve workflows, and maximize efficiencies.
• Collaborates with hospitals, clinics, and leadership to evaluate metrics and communicates with team members to deliver supply chain services.
• Manages monitoring and tracking of supply data, such as back orders, manufacturer numbers, expiration dates, product recalls, and lot numbers, to ensure accurate and timely inventory management.

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or related area.
• Experience in a leadership role.
• Experience working in a large, matrixed hospital or healthcare system preferred.
• Knowledge of healthcare supply chain, medical equipment, and supplies.
• Experience with executing supply chain operational, process, and improvement initiatives.
• Exceptional critical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of supply chain ERP systems and current technologies.
