General Manager - Bermuda

Overview

The General Manager role is based in Bermuda at BDA Airport. The successful candidate will lead the Bermuda station for Menzies Aviation Americas Operations, ensuring safe, consistent, and high-quality ground handling services. The role requires compliance with regulatory, airport, customer, and internal standards, and the ability to run a business in a challenging environment while meeting financial targets.

Reporting structure:
Reports to the Senior Vice President, Americas.

Location:

Bermuda.

• Fully responsible for all aspects of the station Ground Handling Services.
• Fully accountable for ensuring our customers’ operational needs are met, exceeding station goals and revenue targets.
• Fully accountable for compliance with Corporate Governance, legal and quality aspects of Menzies’ Ground Handling business.
• Lead and collaborate with the senior team to maintain and enhance safety & security systems, risk assessments, inspections, audits, training programs, planning, processes, and service delivery.
• Interact with customers to promote the station and measure customer satisfaction; use feedback to improve capabilities and processes.
• Maximize station performance by strategically aligning resources.
• Implement company policies and procedures, promoting safety, security, and people management practices.
• Promote and drive a safety-first culture at all levels of the organization.
• Ensure the business unit complies with internal standards and relevant industry, regulatory, and state requirements.
• Lead and motivate teams to deliver high-quality service and productivity; direct and motivate managers to achieve targets and identify development areas.
• Safety and security are the responsibility of every employee.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others affected by their actions.
• Be fully versed in International Aviation Safety and Security standards and promote them within the organization.
• Co-operate with management to comply with legal requirements.

• Report hazards, near misses, incidents, accidents, or dangerous occurrences following procedures.
• Work in accordance with provided information, training, and safety rules.

• Attend required training courses.

• Bachelor’s Degree required or postgraduate Degree preferred.
• Proven leadership and people management skills.
• Experience in business development, sales, and commercial negotiation & pricing.
• Extensive general management experience, including senior management roles.
• Experience in ground handling, aviation, or logistics environments preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Independent, decisive, and capable of accurate work with minimal immediate support; able to motivate and engage across levels.
• Flexible and self-motivated with a drive to succeed.
• Must pass all pre-employment testing.
