Assistant Store Manager
Lead, develop, and motivate a team of Brand Advocates, delivering a Best-in-Class customer experience that aligns with Timberland’s brand purpose and values. Partner with the Store Manager to maximize profitability, ensuring compliance with company standards across customer engagement, merchandising, operations, and community connection. Create an inclusive environment and prioritize internal and external customer satisfaction while advancing personal development through rotating responsibilities and training.
Responsibilities- Coach and develop staff to exceed individual and store productivity goals.
- Model brand‑specific service standards, monitor and respond to customer feedback, and ensure authentic brand experiences.
- Supervise floor coverage and activities, including daily opening and closing.
- In partnership with the Store Manager, provide training and ongoing development for store staff in engagement, programs, policies, and procedures.
- Foster an environment of development and accountability.
- Support the Store Manager in achieving financial and operational objectives, including expense control, loss prevention, audits, and weekly reporting.
- Assist in recruiting and hiring qualified candidates.
- Partner on visual merchandising directives, maintain brand standards, and manage floor replenishment.
- Ensure compliance with loss prevention, safety, and company policies.
- Model respectful behavior and uphold the integrity and values of VF Corporation.
- Promote participation, creativity, and learning through shared best practices.
- 3+ years of store leadership experience in a fast‑paced retail environment.
- Proven ability to build, lead, and manage high‑performing teams.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Track record of exceeding sales results and business goals.
- Strong decision‑making skills in a dynamic setting.
- Detail‑oriented with excellent organization skills.
- Proficient computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, retail software).
- Experience delivering high‑level customer service in retail.
- Experience in specialty retail, footwear, or apparel.
- Associate Degree (AA) or equivalent technical training.
- Operate office equipment and technology.
- Stand for entire shift.
- Lift, bend, open, and move up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Use ladders for visual merchandising and window banner placement.
- Hourly pay range: $17.80 – $26.70.
- Incentive potential (annual incentive, sales incentive, commission).
