Account Executive

We are seeking an Account Executive with expertise in the student health insurance sector to drive strategic growth and manage key relationships with higher education institutions. This role is ideal for a results-driven professional who understands the unique needs of colleges, universities, and their student populations.

This position may have access to sensitive information such as PII and/or PHI. As such, all Academic Health Plans employees sign and adhere to AHP's Information Security Handbook covering information security policies and procedures.

Your Impact
  • New Sales Strategy & Execution:
    Develop and execute strategic sales plans to expand market share and meet revenue targets.
  • Client Relationship Management:
    Build and maintain strong relationships with university administrators, student affairs leaders, and benefits managers.
  • Consultative Selling:
    Understand client needs and provide tailored insurance solutions that align with institutional goals and student wellness priorities.
  • Contract Negotiation:
    Lead contract discussions, renewals, and pricing strategies with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Market Intelligence:
    Stay informed on regulatory changes, competitive landscape, and emerging trends in student health insurance.
  • Collaboration:

    Work closely with underwriting, marketing, compliance, and customer service teams to ensure seamless client onboarding and satisfaction.
  • Reporting & Forecasting:
    Maintain accurate records of sales activity, pipeline development, and revenue forecasts using sales tools.
Successful Candidate Will Have
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of ACA compliance, waiver processes, and student health plan structures.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet clients and attend industry events.
  • Experience working with self-funded and fully insured student health plans.
  • Familiarity with university procurement processes and RFP responses.
  • Existing relationships within the higher education sector.
  • Familiarity with student health portals, waiver systems, and enrollment platforms.
  • Life, Accident and Health Insurance License

At Risk Strategies Company, base pay is one part of our total compensation package, which also includes a comprehensive suite of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off and paid holidays for eligible employees. The total compensation for a position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. The expected base pay range for this position is between $84,200 - $100,000 annually.

The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including geographical location, education, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
