Job Summary: The Technician II will perform a variety of tasks under the direct supervision and guidance of the Lead Technician. The primary role of this position is to apply acquired knowledge in the proper use of industry specific tools and equipment while following processes and protocols that meet RMC quality standards. This position reports directly to the Branch Manager/Operations Manager of that location and requires interfacing with other departments within the company.
Key Responsibilities- Follow direction from Lead Technician(s) regarding assigned work, ask questions when necessary.
- General understanding of work within the restoration industry (i.e. tools, equipment, processes, safety protocols).
- Determine equipment and materials usage when assisting on the completion of a job.
- Perform tasks to help expedite the completion of the job, including but not limited to: pickup and order materials, move client contents, and perform all necessary construction repairs at the highest quality while adhering to code regulations and industry standards.
- Lift and pack away contents in boxes and furniture; haul materials, trash, and stocking jobs at the direction of the Lead Technician, depending on Division assignment.
- Assist Lead Technician in maintaining company vehicle to company standards and restock vehicle supplies as needed.
- Complete necessary time reporting paperwork (crew sheets and notes) and submit timecards in a timely manner.
- Attend safety briefings and training as required.
- Adhere to company safe work practice guidelines and regular use of PPE.
- May be required to wear respiratory protection in performance of certain activities.
- One year minimum work experience in a construction or similar work environment.
- General understanding of basic safety protocols.
- Physically fit to perform duties described above.
- May require valid driver’s license.
- Possess dexterity, good sense of balance, good eye/hand coordination.
- Good grasp of English language (written and verbal) is a plus.
- Ability to communicate clearly and accurately to Lead Technician or Superintendent when necessary.
- Approved respirator physical and fit testing.
- Good understanding of use of hand tools, power tools and mild chemicals.
- Ability to work with various building materials.
- Ability to read and understand basic written instructions.
- Use of good judgement, works well under pressure.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
- Required PPE may include gloves, masks, goggles, hard hats, and safety footwear.
- Successfully complete a pulmonary function test, including a respirator fit test.
- Potential exposure to physical hazards such as vibration, falls, extreme temperatures, and high noise levels.
- Potential exposure to chemical hazards including solvents, adhesives, paints, and cleaning agents.
- Potential exposure to biological hazards such as mold, bacteria, and other pathogens.
- Complete all mandatory safety training sessions, including hazard communication, emergency response, and safe equipment handling.
- Identify and immediately report any unsafe conditions, hazards, incidents, or injuries to supervisors.
- Familiarize with emergency procedures, evacuation routes, and contacts.
- Lifting and carrying materials or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
- Perform tasks requiring walking, bending, reaching, crouching, kneeling, climbing, squatting, crawling, lifting above shoulder, reaching, and twisting.
- Prolonged sitting or standing required (in office, driving, and/or at job sites) with regular alternation between sitting and standing.
- Continuous repetitive motion and tasks involving L/R hand movement (computer/mouse), wrists, or arms.
