Primary
Purpose:
Under general supervision, maintain, repair, and install new HVAC equipment throughout the district. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all district HVAC equipment.
QualificationsEducation/Certification
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas driver’s license
- EPA refrigerant recovery certification
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of HVAC repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written material
- Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
- Ability to use hand and power tools
- Such alternatives to the above as the district may find appropriate
Experience
- Minimum three years’ experience
- Receive and make repairs from work orders.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions in various types of HVAC systems.
- Repair, replace, or calibrate controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring.
- Maintain an inventory of district‑owned tools, equipment, and materials.
- Respond to emergency calls as needed.
- Perform planned maintenance on HVAC.
- Promote high standards of safety and good housekeeping.
- Report to Maintenance Lead items that are in need of repair.
- Maintain the spirit of cooperation with all school personnel and the general public.
- Maintain the equipment issued to him/her, keeping it clean and in good repair.
- Assist Energy Manager to complete energy conservation issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Refrigerant recovery machine
Physical Demands:
- Standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling for long periods of time
- Frequent lifting of 50+
- Prolonged or irregular hours may be required
Environmental Factors:
- Exposure to extreme hot and/or cold weather
