Job Title: Swim Instructor Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Head Lifeguard/Assistant Pool Manager

PrimaryPurpose:
Conduct swimming lessons.
Qualifications:- Be mentally and physically fit
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Prior competitive swimming experience is desired but not required
- Have a genuine interest in teaching swimming and all water activities
- Have regular and consistent attendance. Report to work promptly.
- Be dependable, courteous, and neat. Have good communication, public relations and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Prepare daily lesson plans
- Be friendly, helpful, and cheerful to all pool patrons and fellow employees in the performance of duties
- Respect and follow the Swim Center “chain of command”
- Attend mandatory in-service training.
- Maintain an acceptable appearance at all times, with regard to required apparel and personal hygiene.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Participate in meetings and training sessions as designed by District staff.
- Regular and consistent attendance.
- All other duties as assigned.
Employee handles hazardous materials, including chlorine bleach, hydrochloric acid, sodium bisulfate, sodium thiosulfate, carbon dioxide gas, sodium bicarbonate, calcium chloride, muriatic acid, calcium hypochlorite, and other such pool chemicals.
Working Conditions:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Indoor duties are performed in a temperature-controlled environment; however, workers are exposed to wet cement and mat surfaces while working. Work hazards or potential work hazards include the exposure to dangerous emergency situations involving rescue, and hazardous chemicals. Demonstrate patience and flexibility in changing job demands and when interacting with employees, visitors, and the public. Maintain emotional control under stress.
