Registered Nurse (ICU)
The position requires a Registered Nurse for the Intensive Care Unit. The nurse will be responsible for providing care for critically ill patients. Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, sepsis, DKA, GI bleed, and psych holds. Patients may also include some pediatric cases, although travelers will not take pediatrics. There is a patient ratio of 1:2, and stepdown/swing beds may be part of the workload.
The nurse must hold current ACLS and BLS certifications. NIHSS certification is preferred. Shifts are 12 hours, starting at 6:45 PM. Weekend and holiday work is expected. Self-scheduling is available, but the final schedule will be managed by the unit manager. Nurses will work alongside a team that includes a Hospitalist or Intensivist on site. There is support from respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7.
Telehealth technology, such as robots, is utilized in patient care. The environment is fast-paced and requires adaptability to changes in patient census. Professionalism and teamwork are essential in this role. Travelers will complete on-the-floor orientation with a preceptor. This position includes opportunities for additional shifts based on availability. Medical and religious declinations for vaccination requirements are acceptable. Cancellations from the facility may occur under specified conditions.
