American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in a Family Birthing Center requiring active CA RN license and at least 2 years of L&D experience.

• Family Birthing Center unit encompassing L&D, Postpartum, and OB with 4 L&D beds and 8 mother-baby beds
• Patient population includes standard L&D, term and preterm deliveries, couplets, general GYN patients, and transfer mothers 34 weeks and below
• No high-risk deliveries; approximately 45 deliveries per month
• Patient ratios: L&D 1:2 (1:1 during active delivery), Mother-Baby 1:4 (couplets)
• 2 RNs and 1 RT present during every delivery
• Uses Cerner EMR
• 12-hour night shifts, , with every other weekend required (Fri, Sat, Sun for nights)
• No floating required outside of L&D or MB units
• Charge nurse generally does not take patients but provides break relief
• OB and Anesthesia on-call at night; hospitalist in house during the day
• RT available 24/7;
  Pharmacy available  with on-call coverage overnight
• Schedules posted 6 weeks in advance with no self-scheduling

• Active CA RN license (Standard or Compact) currently in hand, no pending licenses accepted
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM)
• STABLE certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Acute care hospital experience required
• Must be able to work independently and remain strong in emergency situations, especially given limited overnight resources
• 2 supervisor references required at submittal: one from within the last 12 months worked and one from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

• Provide direct nursing care to L&D, postpartum, and newborn patients including newborns on IV antibiotics or short-term oxygen
• Facility-wide orientation for this Common Spirit Sacramento region position takes place in Sacramento, not at the local facility
• 2-3 days of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor
• Scrubs are provided
• Holiday coverage required for 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's); holiday time off requests considered but not guaranteed
• Travelers rotate in with core staff for holiday coverage
• Report is conducted at the bedside
• Travelers can view schedules remotely and pick up extra shifts or trade with staff, though block scheduling is generally not available
• Closest sister hospital is approximately 1 hour away
• Candidates must not have been directly employed by any Common Spirit-affiliated facility within the past year
