Under the direction of the Culinary Center Production Manager, the Driver/Warehouse Assistant is responsible for the safe and timely delivery of food and supplies to school sites while maintaining proper inventory organization and assisting with warehouse upkeep. This role also includes loading, unloading, verifying deliveries, maintaining vehicle logs, and conducting basic vehicle maintenance checks. The Driver/Warehouse Assistant collaborates with school site staff and the Culinary Center to ensure smooth distribution operations and assists in daily operations at the Culinary Center or school sites as needed.

1. Delivery & Transportation
- Safely transport food, supplies, and equipment to school sites and other designated locations.
- Load and unload goods, verifying delivery accuracy and ensuring product integrity.
- Follow proper food handling and transportation regulations to maintain safety and compliance.
- Maintain vehicle logs and conduct routine vehicle maintenance checks, reporting any issues promptly.
- Assist in receiving, inspecting, and organizing warehouse inventory.
- Ensure proper stock rotation and inventory tracking to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
- Maintain proper organization of warehouse storage, ensuring inventory is stored safely and efficiently.
- Keep warehouse areas clean and organized to support efficient operations.
- Perform custodial duties within the warehouse, including sweeping, mopping, and trash removal to maintain a sanitary work environment.
- Assist with inventory counts and supply tracking as needed.
- Work closely with the Warehouse Coordinator for scheduling and daily work directives.
- Communicate with school site staff to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
- Provide general support to the Culinary Center and school sites, including assisting with kitchen operations or food service as needed.
- Follow all safety guidelines and district policies regarding equipment use and transportation.
- Attend and participate in meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
- Report any operational concerns or logistical challenges to the Warehouse Coordinator or Executive Director.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of one year of experience in warehouse operations, food distribution, or delivery services.
- Experience working in a school food service or institutional setting preferred.
- Ability to operate delivery vehicles and warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in inventory management.
- Knowledge of food handling, storage, and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with various departments.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, and moving heavy objects.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting in warehouse and delivery settings.
- Exposure to varying temperatures, including refrigerated and freezer environments.
- Operation of delivery vehicles and potential exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Valid California Food Handler's Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment).
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
- Valid California Driver's License
- Criminal justice fingerprint and background clearance
