Overview
We have an exciting opportunity within Network Rail High Speed for a Section Supervisor (Track) – office based, includes night shifts. The role assists the Section Manager in inspection, maintenance, and renewal of assets within agreed resource levels, budget, and unit cost measures. The supervisor ensures the delivery of work, undertakes inspections, and manages staff as directed.
Responsibilities- Supervise and check the quality of work delivered and confirm assets are compliant to standards.
- Carry out work safely and in accordance with safe systems of work procedures, method statements, and other instructions.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Undertake specific inspections in accordance with standards as directed.
- Prioritise work arising.
- Prepare work and resource specifications and method statements including Safe System of Work Plans.
- Develop work plans that enable safe, efficient, and standard compliant delivery.
- Identify and propose asset renewals.
- Allocate resources.
- Deliver work in accordance with relevant maintenance plans.
- Provide appropriate information to update systems, databases, and records.
- Undertake programme of staff surveillance, work quality, compliance and asset condition checks as directed.
- Manage, control, and discipline staff as directed.
- Monitor and review staff competence and welfare.
- Contribute to your own development and that of others.
- Experience of directing and supervising worksites and the safe and efficient delivery of work.
- Knowledge of resource and work organisation/planning processes and systems.
- Knowledge and experience of rail testing & lubrication inspection, maintenance, renewal, and asset condition assessment techniques.
- Knowledge of relevant standards, procedures, and instructions.
- Awareness of cost and waste control techniques.
- Able to demonstrate, promote, and embed safe working behaviours within the team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Coaching, influencing and developing others.
- Hold and retain relevant competencies for this post.
- Ideally hold (or be working towards) an NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject or relevant experience.
- Willing and able to drive vehicles as required by business need.
Salary: £49,598 (starting) – contract:
Maintenance Manager Level
6. Includes outer London allowance of £1,800 if based at Singlewell.
