Service Technician-Escalators – based in London on a four on, four off night shift (7pm to 7am) for one of our Clients in London. The successful candidate will carry out planned preventative maintenance regimes on portfolio escalator equipment, complete Schindler safety inspections and close any open non-conformities to current legislation or standards, improve equipment condition to reduce call-backs and downtime, perform minor repairs and lifecycle component replacements.
Adherence to all company safety and conduct procedures is required. Coverage by an on-call rota for out-of-hours maintenance and repairs. This is a full-time, permanent role.
- Carry out routine servicing of escalator equipment, including minor repair work and routine replacement of components in accordance with approved company procedures (PPE, PDA, 2+ etc)
- Rectify and reduce faults on escalator equipment in cases of breakdown and verify correct functioning
- Carry out checks including speed, motor start/stop, noise, temperature and power supply using approved company tools and protective equipment
- Perform routine inspection and adjustment of escalator installations in accordance with approved procedures; reinstate escalator and complete service documentation
- Conduct fault finding and diagnostic procedures using a range of techniques, manuals and test equipment, restoring equipment to service
- Use written or graphical information effectively
- Comply with Company Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and Schindler Core Values to meet current UK legal requirements and Safety standards
- Attend all relevant training sessions
- Carry out all works in accordance with the Company’s Quality Policy
- Contribute to the Company’s Safety Objectives by maintaining safety systems and implementing changes to its Safety Management System as applicable
- Proven experience in escalator servicing/maintenance/repairs (preferred)
- NVQ Level 3 minimum in Escalator maintenance
- Customer-focused with a commitment to high service standards
- Team player who supports colleagues and assists when required
- Proactive with the ability to identify and prioritise workload
- Ability to forward plan departmental requirements and meet deadlines
- Good problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills at client, service leader and inspector levels
- Full UK driving licence (walking routes may not require this qualification)
