Neway International are seeking a Social Worker – Children’s to join our client based with Thurrock Council.

Rate: PAYE £23.98 per hour / Ltd/Umbrella £32.00 per hour

Family Support Team 7. The team supports children and families through long-term safeguarding interventions, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met and that children’s voices remain central to all decision-making.
The Social Worker will work within a long-term Child Protection Team, managing a complex caseload of children subject to Child Protection Plans, Children in Need Plans, and Child in Care (CIC) plans. The role requires strong assessment, analytical, and court work skills, with a focus on achieving permanence and safeguarding children in line with statutory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities- Managing caseloads of children subject to Child Protection, Child in Need, and Child in Care plans.
- Holding a complex caseload, including children in care proceedings.
- Initiating Public Law Outline (PLO) and Care Proceedings, including preparing witness statements and care plans for court.
- Completing parenting capacity assessments, sibling assessments, and kinship/connected persons assessments (including viability and Special Guardianship assessments).
- Providing evidence-based analysis of significant harm to inform court decisions and ensure the child’s voice is represented.
- Undertaking Section 47 Child Protection enquiries.
- Preparing and presenting Child Protection Conference reports.
- Convening and chairing Core Group meetings.
- Completing Child and Family Assessments within the Child in Need framework and implementing Child in Need Plans, including chairing meetings and reviewing plans.
- Undertaking pre-birth assessments.
- Conducting home and school visits to safeguard children in line with statutory guidance.
- Liaising with partner agencies to support families.
- Completing court reports for private law proceedings (Section 7 and Section 37 reports).
- Preparing Child in Care reports for CIC conferences.
- Holding stability meetings to plan for placements at risk of breakdown.
- Completing direct work with children and families.
