HGV Technician West Thurrock Service & Support

SAGA Truck and Van – a large Mercedes‑Benz commercial vehicle dealership with sites across East Anglia, Hertfordshire, Essex and Kent – is looking for a dedicated HGV Technician to join its team in West Thurrock, Essex (RM20).

As an HGV Technician you will diagnose, maintain and repair vehicle problems, service vehicles, work on electrical and mechanical systems, and use diagnostic equipment to ensure compliance with Mercedes‑Benz guidelines. You will also perform scheduled safety inspections, complete job cards, and support other technicians.

• Hourly rate: £18‑£23.50 plus bonus and overtime.

• Shift allowance: £25 per day for every late shift worked.

• Typical shift schedule:
 Week 1: 1:00 pm – 10:30 pm
 Week 2: 6:00 am – 3:30 pm

• Diagnose, maintain and repair vehicle problems according to Mercedes‑Benz guidelines.
• Service vehicles to a high standard.
• Work on electrical and mechanical systems.
• Use diagnostic equipment effectively.
• Perform scheduled safety inspections and report required rectifications.
• Complete job cards clearly and accurately.
• Follow the repair process from fault analysis to completion.
• Repair and replace parts.
• Support other technicians in the workshop.

• Relevant formal qualification (City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair) with a proven track record in vehicle repair and servicing.
• Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Commitment to high quality standards and strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong technical background in automotive repair and service.
• Knowledge of modern diagnostic equipment and ability to maintain high standards of housekeeping.
