Adjunct Faculty, CAD

Job Summary

The successful candidate will teach courses in the Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) program, specifically using Revit and/or Civil 3D software. Courses are typically offered in the evenings at the Grayslake campus.

Job Description
  • The instructor is responsible for creating and distributing a course syllabus, teaching all scheduled classes, and evaluating students.
  • Follow all College, Division, and Department policies and procedures.
  • Teach courses in subject field, develop instructional materials, assess student learning, assign grades, and attend required adjunct meetings in the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Participate in college governance and other aspects of academic life, maintain current knowledge of subject matter.
  • Maintain current compliance training, including Title IX “Responsible Employee” and, if applicable, Clery Act Campus Security Authority.
  • Select, prepare, and maintain current curriculum, course outlines, and instructional materials.
  • Teach courses as scheduled each academic semester.
  • Provide instructional support to students and refer them to specialized services when appropriate.
  • Offer a syllabus that includes objectives, learning outcomes, attendance policies, texts and readings, timelines, and evaluation criteria.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, discussions, or examinations, and provide timely feedback.
  • Deliver course content using a variety of teaching styles.
  • Maintain office, discipline, grade, and division records as required by the College.
  • Be available for student consultation via phone or email.
  • Use College policies to resolve and document student complaints and concerns.
  • Assist in developing and administering discipline‑appropriate measures of student academic achievement; use departmental testing instruments as provided.
  • Conduct all classes according to an established and current syllabus and approved textbooks.
  • Submit all grades electronically prior to required deadlines and provide the registrar with appropriate grade records.
  • Encourage students to submit course evaluations, review them, and use feedback to improve delivery.
  • Revise and update course content as needed.
  • Participate in program advisory boards, college, division, and department committees when appropriate.
  • Maintain a high level of professional ethics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean or Associate Dean.

This posting will be used to obtain a pool of qualified candidates. When openings are available, the department will contact selected candidates for interviews.

Adjunct Faculty may be assigned to any campus, including Grayslake, Lakeshore, Southlake, or any college extension site.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate in Applied Science degree in CAD or a higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architecture.
  • Five (5) or more years of recent experience in the design field using AutoCAD, Solid Works, or Revit.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience teaching primarily the content for each CAD‑specific course at the secondary or post‑secondary level.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated professional learning or certification in evidence‑based student‑focused pedagogical teaching and assessment practice such as ACUE workshops and data use.
  • Recent experience in the design field.
