Resource Special Education Teacher
Prairie Crossing Charter School (PCCS) is currently accepting applications for a Resource Special Education Teacher for the school year. PCCS's team culture is one that CARES. Job Description
- Provide direct service in individual or group settings to students identified as having social/emotional and/or learning difficulties that impact their educational performance.
- Attends and is an active participant in team meetings, and IEP meetings as appropriate.
- Provide ongoing consultation to staff for accommodations and modifications for students with special needs in the regular classroom.
- Behavior management or assistance in identifying behavioral difficulties.
- Discussion and feedback concerning student progress.
- Utilizes a variety of instructional techniques, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the student.
- Assists the classroom teacher in creating an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for the learning style of the students.
- Prepares lesson plans on a weekly basis for assigned students and a substitute folder.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishes clear objectives for all learning and behavioral activities, and communicates these objectives to the students.
- Monitors the progress of students on a regular basis as delineated in the IEP.
- Assists in the collection and analysis of data for the identification and implementation of supplemental or special education services.
- Works cooperatively with other school personnel in the identification, diagnosis and remediation of individuals with special needs as well as those in need of supplemental services.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records including student progress as required.
- Develops and implements appropriate Individual Education Plans (IEP) in accordance with state and federal statutes.
- Provides consultation to parents as an integral part of helping their child succeed.
- Participates in field trips, camping trips, etc. to provide educational/behavioral instruction or support as needed for specific students.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Student Services, Dean, and other central office administrators as designated by the Executive Director.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Skilled in data analysis and use of Google For Education applications.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with students, parents, and staff.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Special Education.
- Candidate must hold a Professional Educator License with an LBS1 Environmental/Outdoor Education background is a plus.
