Through dynamic programming, local partnerships, and a welcoming environment, we’re building a community where education happens everywhere for everyone.

The Community Education office seeks enthusiastic and skilled instructors to lead non-credit classes designed for youth, teens, and families. Current programs include seasonal camps, high school enrichment classes, and family-friendly offerings that encourage learning across generations. We are always looking to expand these opportunities and welcome new ideas that engage younger learners and families in fun, meaningful, and educational experiences. If you have a passion for teaching and enjoy working with youth or multigenerational audiences, you are invited to be part of our growing and dynamic community.

• Develop and teach in the assigned subject(s) and level(s) in new or existing programs.
• Fulfill administrative requirements, meet established deadlines, and complete required training.
• Stay current in compliance training, including Title IX “Responsible Employee” requirements and, if applicable, Clery Act Campus Security Authority as a condition of employment.
• Agree to and follow appropriate College and department policies and procedures.

Schedule varies; days, evenings, and Saturday hours are possible. Possible class locations include CLC Grayslake Campus, Southlake Campus (Vernon Hills), Lakeshore Campus (Waukegan), Braeloch Facility, CLC Advanced Technology Center (Gurnee), or a CLC extension site in communities across Lake County. Delivery modes include in-person, virtual live via Zoom, asynchronous, or a hybrid of the aforementioned. In-person is most common.

• Clear background check, along with subject-matter expertise, effective communication skills, and a commitment to inclusive, learner-centered instruction.
• Documented track record of helping learners understand and master new ideas and skills.
• Competency and/or willingness to learn and use technologies commonly used in instruction at CLC:
  Microsoft Outlook, other Microsoft applications, common classroom projection technology, Canvas Learning Management System, enrollment software, etc.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse cultures, gender identities, language groups, and abilities; sensitivity to and ability to work with diverse backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain professional relationships in the course of work.

• Two (2) years of successful, relevant teaching experience.
• An appropriate credential or demonstrated mastery in the subject area(s) you are applying to teach, such as a degree from an accredited institution or a relevant industry certification or license.

Hiring Range
: $/hour

This posting will be used to obtain a pool of qualified candidates. As teaching needs arise, applications will be reviewed for possible interviews. The number of adjunct faculty hired varies from semester to semester, depending upon department needs. Adjunct faculty hires and assignments are coordinated by the department chairs.
