About Laremont:
Laremont School is a therapeutic public day school that offers specialized programs to meet the diverse needs of its students. The ELP (Exploring, Learning, and Participating) Program serves students from early childhood through transition grades, providing a highly individualized environment for those with complex needs, including access to intensive therapeutic services, assistive technology, and adaptive equipment. The Transition Center supports young adults aged 18-22, focusing on functional academics, daily living skills, and vocational training.
With specialized classrooms, low student-to-staff ratios, and dedicated learning spaces, students are provided with the support and environment needed to make meaningful progress tailored to their unique needs.

Qualifications:
A. Preference will be given for experiences in the following order:
B. Applicant must have the Illinois State Board of Education Paraprofessional Approval.
C. Valid bus driver's permit and good driving record.
1. Evidence of previous job responsibilities requiring coordination/supervision of schedules for groups of individuals.
2. Previous involvement with moderate-severely mentally handicapped students.
3. Previous community work experiences.
4. Previous involvement with groups of children.

Overview:
The Community Experience Coach coordinates and schedules of all community experience activities for classes assigned. The Community Experience Coach is directly responsible to the student's teacher and accordingly supports the teacher in carrying out assignments.
Responsibilities Include:
- Coordinates/schedules community experience trips that are under the supervision of classroom teachers/schools.
- Learns the skills that will be required of the student prior to training or introducing a student to a community site.
- Conducts and compiles task analysis of each student's abilities and behaviors in the community and informs the teacher with appropriate copies.
- Conducts community site orientation with the students as to what is expected of them in the community (i.e., behaviors, dressing appropriately, crossing streets unattended, how to purchase items, etc.)
- Orients students to community site (i.e., how to enter and leave, where to find what they are looking for, who to ask for help, etc.)
- Familiarize self with student lEP/Transition goals.
- Implements training programs as designed by teachers for students on specific community related skills through the use of task analysis and other current techniques.
- Fills out appropriate assessments as requested by the educational team.
- Implements training program as designed by teacher for students on appropriate behaviors needed for community skills.
- Trains students on community safety (i.e., crossing streets, not talking to strangers, etc.)
- Encourages the development of problem solving skills for students, relating to community like based difficulties at community site.
- Advises students' teachers of incidents of concern to students or Community Experience Coach Technician.
- Reports and explains recorded data of students' progress to teachers and determines next skill level, if necessary.
- Provides driver services for students to community experience sites using SEDOL vehicle.
- Monitors and oversees the routing, day-to-day care of SEDOL vehicle (including gas, oil, safety lane, tire pressure/wear, etc.) Report concerns to appropriate personnel.
- Schedule bus/van usage for all of SEDOL.
- Maintains daily attendance and punctuality.
- Performs other appropriate responsibilities as needed to implement program.
Salary: $21.67 - $28.57 per hour, based on experience and education
