Learning & Engagement Specialist, Tutoring Center
Job Summary:
The Learning & Engagement Specialist (Business, Hospitality, and Information Technology) under the supervision of the Tutoring Coordinator, provides coaching to students on time management, study strategies, and executive functioning using examples and approaches relevant to their field of study, while encouraging connections with tutoring and other academic supports. Builds community within academic pathways by connecting students with peers, faculty, and campus resources;
facilitating study groups, workshops, and events; and creating engagement opportunities both online and in person across campuses. Regular Part-Time Board established positions earn Vacation and Sick Leave and Tuition waiver for CLC classes and Tuition Reimbursement for advanced degrees. In addition, employees are eligible to participate in the State University Retirement System (SURS).
Job Description:
Student and Customer Service – 95 %
Provide coaching to students, including work on time management, study skills, and executive functioning, using examples and content directly relevant to the student’s field of study
Build community to provide a sense of belonging, identity, and support for students within each academic pathway, actively engaging with students both in and outside the center
Lead students in participating in customized activity schedule, hosting events for students when collaborations are not sufficient
Hold engagement hours during set hours each week Encourage students to connect with Learning Assistants and tutors as needed
Support students across all campuses/locations, spending time at each as needed
Facilitate connections between students, arranging study groups, academic focused discussion groups, and personal and academic development workshops to help students form social-academic ties Champion and serve as a sponsor of a student group that aligns with the academic area of the coach.
Visit selected gateway courses for the supported fields to introduce self and market tutoring, coaching support and community opportunities (including the sponsored student group).Collaborate with Student Development departments (especially Advising and Student Activities and Inclusion), as well as with faculty and the Career and Job Placement Center, to build an activity schedule customized to students in the field
Create and host field-specific digital engagement spaces where students with shared academic or professional interests can access targeted announcements and resources, engage with peers and staff, and learn about relevant events

Participate in team and division planning, professional development activities, and college-wide committees as assigned and appropriate .P erform other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business , Marketing, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and effectively support students through one-on-one coaching
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized with the ability to develop, coordinate, and manage student-focused initiatives and events
Demonstrated ability to market and promote programs, services, and events to drive student engagement and participation
