Job Description

Community & Workforce Education is seeking innovative, engaging instructors to develop curriculum and teach classes for adult learners.

We welcome applicants with traditional teaching experience as well as industry professionals and subject matter experts who are interested in sharing their knowledge and experience with others. Prior classroom teaching experience is not required for all opportunities.

This posting will be used to develop a pool of qualified instructors who may be considered for current and future Community & Workforce Education teaching needs.

Current Priority Areas

We are currently especially interested in instructors with experience in the following areas:

Manufacturing & Industrial Skills

Individuals with hands-on manufacturing or industrial experience who can teach topics such as:

  • Pneumatics
  • Mechanical drives
  • Precision measurement
  • Basic electrical concepts
  • Other foundational manufacturing and industrial skills
Supporting Neurodiverse Adults

Individuals with experience supporting neurodiverse adults in educational, employment, community, or other settings. Potential opportunities may include instruction and programming related to:

  • Career and workplace readiness
  • Job training and employment skills
  • Independent living and life-management skills
  • Social and interpersonal skills
  • College and academic success
  • Other areas that support adult learners with diverse needs

Adjunct Faculty Responsibilities
Adjunct Faculty Will
  • Develop and teach assigned subjects and levels within new or existing programs.
  • Fulfill administrative requirements, meet established deadlines, and complete required training.
  • Remain current with required compliance training, including Title IX “Responsible Employee” requirements and, when applicable, Clery Act Campus Security Authority requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Follow applicable College and department policies and procedures.
Schedule, Locations & Delivery

Schedules vary based on program needs and may include daytime, evening, and Saturday hours. Possible class locations include:

  • CLC Grayslake Campus
  • Southlake Campus in Vernon Hills
  • Lakeshore Campus in Waukegan
  • Braeloch Facility
  • CLC Advanced Technology Center in Gurnee
  • CLC extension sites and partner locations throughout Lake County

Courses may be delivered in person, live online via Zoom, asynchronously online, or through a hybrid format. In-person instruction is the most common delivery method.
