Job Location:

Grayslake, IL 60030.

Salary Range: $19.00 per hour.

Shift: Split shift 7:30A‑9:30A and 2:00P‑4:00P.

Purpose

This position is to provide door‑to‑door transportation of Little City participants. Additional responsibilities include safe operation of agency vehicles, following protocols for routine vehicle checks and care, reporting any participant safety, mechanical or operational problems, and completing any required documentation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Transport participants by picking up, transporting, and dropping them off at their scheduled location.

Assist participants with getting in and out of the vehicle as needed.

Act professionally, observe the rights of persons served, and maintain confidentiality.

Maintain transportation logs and records according to established policies and procedures.

Operate vehicle safely, observing speed limits, local traffic regulations, and Little City policies.

Conduct pre‑trip/post‑trip visual inspections of vehicle, equipment, and supplies (e.g., tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, safety equipment).

Report any participant safety, mechanical or operational problems immediately to the supervisor.

Keep interior and exterior of vehicles clean.

Take vehicles for safety inspections, maintenance repairs, refueling as needed or if requested.

Maintain a good driving record.

Serve as a positive role model for individuals served.

Attend staff meetings when required.

Maintain American Heart Association certification in First Aid and CPR.

Successfully complete Little City required training, re‑training, and any additional training as required.

Any other reasonable duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school graduate or GED certificate (preferred).
Valid Illinois driver’s license required.
A minimum of one year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities desired.
Must meet the insurance requirements per Little City policy to be placed on the Approved Driver list.
Must have a good standing driving record according to the State of Illinois Secretary of State MVR.
Must have American Heart Association certification in First Aid and CPR.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

Employees may be required to sit for prolonged periods, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration may occur. The noise level is usually moderate. Employees must be able to assist and support up to 30 pounds of varying assistance. Corrected vision, hearing within normal range, and the ability to operate vehicle equipment are required.

Ability to maneuver an occupied wheelchair into a tie‑down position and to perform CPR is required. The position may require performing unplanned Category III tasks.
