Job Overview
The Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving, inspecting, and accurately recording incoming materials to ensure inventory accuracy and support both internal operations and external customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Material Receiving & Inspection
- Count, inspect, and verify incoming materials against packing slips and system records
- Take basic measurements to ensure compliance with item descriptions in Business Central
- Count and/or weigh materials to confirm quantities
- Review and verify material certifications in accordance with inspection plans and Harger specifications
- Scan and record documentation for manufacturing and quality purposes
- Notify Quality Inspector of enterprise-critical items requiring additional inspection
- Inventory & System Management
- Accurately receive approved materials into Business Central
- Maintain organized, labeled storage locations for all materials
- Shipping & Logistics
- Load and unload trucks efficiently on a daily basis
- Assist Manufacturing with preparing materials for external processes (e.g., plating, oxidizing)
- Support Shipping with outbound tasks as needed
- Move materials safely, requesting assistance for heavier items when necessary
- Discrepancy Resolution & Communication
- Identify and report discrepancies in incoming shipments to Purchasing and Quality in a timely manner
- Collaborate with the Sales Manager to resolve RMR (Return Material Requests) issues
- Communicate effectively with internal departments regarding incoming materials and status updates
- Escalate issues related to shipments and receipts to the department manager
- Reporting & Documentation
- Receive and log RMRs promptly
- Prepare and submit the monthly scrap report to the Plant Manager
- Workplace Organization & Maintenance
- Maintain a clean, organized cardboard aisle and empty the compactor as needed
- Keep the outdoor fenced area clean, labeled, and organized (including snow removal and salting when required)
- Assist with staging and delivering skids to manufacturing
- Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment at all times
- Additional Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operations
Hours are from 9:30AM-6PM Monday to Friday
What your background should look like
High School diploma. Excellent communication skills, written and oral. Strong organizational skills. 3-5 years' experience working in receiving environment, including 2-5 years' experience with sit down/stand up forklift. Knowledge of inventory control. Understanding of basic computer functions. Basic Math skills. Ability to work with little supervision after training. Work in a team environment. Attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
Continuous standing, moving and reaching with arms and hands. Frequently walks, bends, lifts and carry items. Periodically going up and down ladders. Occasionally lifts and/or moves over 50 lbs. Work Environment:
Work performed in a shop environment. Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, and odors.
Compensation
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $43,200 – $64,700 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
