Housekeeper​/Laundry Aide

Housekeeper (Full Time)

The primary purpose of this position is to perform day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping and Laundry Department in accordance with facility regulations and as directed by the supervisor.

• Perform The Essential Functions.
• Perform day-to-day housekeeping tasks as assigned.
• Carry out specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
• Clean and polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, and room heating/cooling units in resident and recreational areas, as instructed.
• Clean, wash, sanitize, and/or polish bathroom fixtures, ensuring water marks are removed.
• Clean windows and mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrance/exit ways.
• Clean floors, including sweeping, dusting, damp/mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting.
• Ensure appropriate caution/safety signs are properly set up prior to performing duties.
• Clean carpets through vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.
• Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing.
• Remove dirt, dust, grease, and film from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions.
• Clean hallways, stairways, and elevators.
• Discard waste and trash into proper containers and reline receptacles with plastic liners.
• Clean vacant rooms as assigned.
• Ensure areas are clean and equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored.
• Discard infectious waste into appropriate containers.
• Follow cleaning schedules as closely as practicable.
• Maintain the facility in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.

• High school education.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.
• Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
• Maintain supplies, equipment, and the cleanliness of housekeeping areas.
• Willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel and to handle residents at any maturity level.
• Follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixing of cleaning compounds, liquids, and disinfecting solutions.
• Relate information regarding a resident’s condition.
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
