Fam Med Clinic Registered Nurse or LPN – St Rose Medical Pavilion
Position SummaryThe Ambulatory Clinic LPN - GB utilizes the nursing process to coordinate an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. The LPN is responsible for promoting and restoring patient’s health by completing the nursing process, collaborating with physicians and team members, and providing physical and psychological support to patients and their families. He/she practices within the boundaries of the Kansas Nurse Practice Act, specialty standards, and organizational/departmental policies and procedures.
Responsibilities& Essential Job Functions
- Greets patients and prepares them for examination or procedure. Records health history and notes abnormal conditions for physician. Obtains vital signs and performs required screens.
- Accurately and safely administers intramuscular, subcutaneous, and oral medication as ordered in accordance with nursing standards. Observes, records, and reports patient condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.
- Assists with the preparation of supplies and equipment and aids the physician or advanced practice provider during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
- Ensures patient chart entries are made accurately and in a timely manner and forwards charts as appropriate.
- Assists with scheduling tests and treatments, arranging referrals to a specialist, and obtaining preauthorizations when directed by the provider.
- Collects, documents, and delivers lab specimens; obtains lab results and other reports and enters EMR if needed.
- Notifies patients of test results and follow‑up appointments. Refers to RN/MD for patient education.
- Reviews medications, treatments, and after‑visit instructions with patient/family.
- Responds to and screens telephone calls for referral to RN or physician.
- Coordinates pre‑visit planning by reviewing the EMR to include patient history and proactively orders labs and other tests based on approved clinic protocols.
- Completes necessary forms (e.g., FMLA, DME, Home Health orders) and obtains physician signatures as appropriate.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education & Experience- Associate Degree in Nursing in LPN Program – Licensed Practical Nurse
- High School Graduate
- Basic typing and word processing ability.
- Previous medical office experience.
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Single State – State Board of Nursing
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
