Position Description
Position is responsible for providing carpentry services to all campus buildings. Also assists with all general maintenance.
Position Responsibilities
45% - Makes repairs to doors, door locks, walls, ceilings, floors, windows, glass and mirrors.
35% - Re-covers, paints, stains, seals to variety of materials, including sheetrock, wood, and metal.
10% - Works on new construction to include building cabinets, trimming, framing, installing drywall and ceramic tile and laminate on countertops.
5% - Assist with all general maintenance duties as needed.
5% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
Expectations
To have a good working knowledge of carpentry skills including the usage of trade-specific equipment and machinery.
To have a good knowledge and skill of trim carpentry and cabinetry skills for furniture repair and detail work.
To be able to respond to on-call emergencies by having a basic skill of all trades.
To be available for on-call duty.
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
Experience - Five years to ten years of similar or related experience.
Education - A high school education or GED.Interpersonal Skills - Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion.
Other Skills - Experience to include trim carpentry and cabinetry skills. General maintenance experience is desired.
Physical Requirements
Job requires repetitive lifting of light weight objects with frequent bending and stooping, or repetitively lift average weight objects where frequent bending or stooping alternates with lighter activities. Occasionally lifts heavy objects (over 50 pounds).Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings.
Wages/Other
The hourly range for this position is $23.23 to $25.94.

Barton Community College seeks applications for a full-time replacement Carpenter I. Responsibilities:
Provide repair as well as new construction carpentry services to all campus buildings; assists with all general maintenance duties. Must be able to work flexible hours and be capable of lifting up to 50 lb. Five to ten years of similar or related experience with general maintenance as well as trim carpentry and cabinetry skills and general knowledge of the building trades.
Education:
