The Project Estimatorisresponsibleforpreparingdetailedcostestimatesforcommercialconstructionprojects .Thispositionreviewsplansandspecifications,performsquantitytakeoffs,coordinatessubcontractorpricing,andworkscloselywith

Project

Managersthroughoutthebiddingprocess.

Occasionaltraveltoprojectsitesisrequired.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Maintainscurrentandfutureprojectbidlists:

    Maintainsestimatinglogofcurrentbiddingprojectsandfuture/potentialprojects.

    AssistsinlookingatWEBpages,newspapers,andotherpublicationsforfuture/potentialprojects.

    Obtainsplansfromowner/engineering firms.
  • Collectsinformationfortheestimate:

    Reviewssitewith Project Managertonotepotentialrisks .Assistsincalculatingjobquantities.
  • Studiesandunderstandsplansandspecifications,includingestimatingassumptions,productionrates,andmethodsofconstruction.

    Assistsinrequestingsubcontractorquotes.

    Obtainsbidderslist.
  • Makessafetyakeyfactorinbiddingbyincludingcostsoftrenchboxes,confinedspacedetection,safetymeetings,etc.,andotherprojectsafetyneeds.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor'sdegreein

    Civil

    Engineering,Construction Engineering,Construction Management,orarelatedfieldpreferred(orequivalentexperience).
  • Minimumof5yearsofestimatingexperienceinheavycivilorcommercialconstruction.
  • Abilitytoreadandinterpretconstructiondrawings,specifications,andcontractdocuments.
  • Experienceperformingquantitytakeoffsanddevelopingaccuratecostestimates.
  • Knowledgeofconstructionmeans,methods,materials,andproductionrates.
  • Experiencesolicitingandevaluatingsubcontractorandsupplierbids.
  • Proficiencywithestimatingsoftware,Microsoft Office,andotherconstruction-related applications.
  • Strong analytical,mathematical,and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational,communication,andtimemanagementskills.
  • Abilitytomanagemultiplebidsandmeetdeadlinesinafast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivatedwiththeabilitytoworkindependentlyandaspartofateam.
  • Valid driver'slicensewiththeabilitytotraveltoprojectsitesasneeded.
