Montana State University seeks qualified individuals to provide non‑tenurable level instruction and/or related functions. Instructors are needed to teach classes depending upon need and available funding. The position is part‑time and varies in duration (a couple weeks, a semester, or an academic year). Salary depends on the number of courses taught and duration. Applications are accepted on a continual basis and retained in the hiring pool for two years.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Teaching on‑campus or online courses.
- Advising, evaluating and assisting students.
- Curriculum and/or course development.
- Participating in weekly faculty meetings.
- Collaborating with and evaluating peer leaders assigned to your section.
- Master or doctoral degree in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated experience teaching interdisciplinary courses.
- Demonstrated knowledge of college student development.
- Promote the advancement of diversity, or demonstrated commitment to student, faculty, and staff diversity.
- Relate to students and develop classroom rapport.
- Work effectively with diverse student populations.
- Collaborate successfully with faculty and staff.
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Utilize engaging pedagogy that involves students in the learning process.
- Take initiative and work well independently.
- Learn material quickly.
Special Requirements /Additional Information
The position may be a Union position. Non‑Tenure Track Faculty with .5 FTE or more are represented by AFMSU; positions less than .5 FTE are not represented.
