Legal Process Professor — Flexible JD Program (Montana)

D. Fuchsberg Law Center is expanding its footprint and seeking applicants for two Legal Process (Legal Research and Writing) faculty its nationally recognized Flex Time JD Program at its new Great Falls, Montana campus starting in July 2027. Legal Process is a six-credit first-year course. Students receive three credits in the fall semester and three credits in the spring semester. In addition to the standard focus on predictive writing in the fall and persuasive writing in the spring, students are introduced to client interviewing.

Touro's innovative Flex Time JD Program is a blend of in-person instruction (required only on Sundays) with online asynchronous coursework completed during the week. The program is specifically designed to meet students where they are, breaking down geographic and scheduling barriers. It provides students who may not be able to step away from existing careers and family obligations an opportunity to earn a law degree.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Prepare and teach graduate law student courses in a physical classroom and/or a virtual classroom
• Prepare course materials such as syllabi, assessments, final examinations, assignments, and handouts
• Timely grade student assessments
• Maintain regularly scheduled office hours in order to advise and assist students
• Stay current in and continually strive to improve teaching skills and expertise in the subjects that they teach
• Stay informed of changes in the law and pedagogical practices in legal research and writing
• Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues
• Engage in legal research and produce legal scholarship, as appropriate to the position
• Commit to service to legal education and to the wider community
• Engage in the intellectual life of the Law Center, which includes significant service to the Law Center
• Participate on faculty committees
• Attend faculty meetings and Law Center events
• Participate in service outside the Law Center, appropriate to the position

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school required
• Preference for both legal practice and teaching experience
• Commitment to teaching in an environment dedicated to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students
• An established record or promise of excellence in teaching legal research and writing.

• Proficiency teaching in and managing a virtual classroom
• Proficiency in or ability to become proficient in utilizing advanced technology tools in in-person and vitual classrooms
• Ability to make decisions and solve problems

• Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills in communications with supervisors, peers, and subordinates
• Displays excellent organizational skills including scheduling of events
• Performs faculty administrative responsibilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook
• Knowledge of Canvas
• Knowledge of Zoom and other online communication tool

• Travel for conferences and professional development
