General StatementThe Director of Workforce Operations provides operational leadership and oversight for workforce training programs within the Continuing Education and Training Department. This position is responsible for the administration, coordination, and continuous improvement of workforce programs, ensuring efficient operations, high-quality student experiences, regulatory compliance, accurate data management, and sustainable program delivery.
The Director oversees workforce training initiatives including CDL , Grid Operator Training, Flooring Installation, Boiler Training, non-credit Early Childhood Education and Child Development Associate (CDA) programs, Fingerprinting Services, SNAP E&T initiatives, and other workforce training offerings. The position supervises workforce program staff, supports instructors, manages program logistics, oversees student information system (SIS) tracking and reporting, monitors enrollment and performance analytics, and ensures operational processes align with institutional goals and workforce training standards.
Working closely with the Executive Director of Career & Technical Education, the Director serves as the primary internal operational leader for workforce programs, supporting program sustainability, student success, data-informed decision-making, and organizational effectiveness.
Duties and Responsibilities- Lead workforce program operations.
- Supervise staff and coordinate programs.
- Oversee compliance reporting and data management.
- Oversee student service and enrollment.
- Drive operational strategy and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Public Administration, or a related field
- Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in workforce development, continuing education, training administration, program management, or related fields.
- Experience supervising employees, instructors, or program staff.
- Experience with budget management and financial planning
- Strong organizational, strategic thinking, problem-solving, innovation, and creativity skills
- Master’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Education, or a related field.
- Experience managing workforce grants and grant-funded positions
- Familiarity with workforce funding programs such as SNAP E&T, apprenticeships, and workforce training initiatives.
- Experience working in higher education or community-based workforce training environments.
- Advanced strategic, budgeting, innovation, and complex problem-solving abilities
This position requires the ability to sit for long periods of time; to do extensive keyboard entry and to file for periods of time. It also requires the ability to bend and squat near the floor for periods of time, to move from sitting to standing frequently, manual dexterity, some reaching and using a stool to reach files, some infrequent lifting of various size boxes.
