Water Engineer in Training (EIT) - Great Falls, MT

Start your career as a Water Engineer in Training with AE2S, a leading civil engineering firm dedicated to innovative water solutions. In this Civil Engineer entry-level role, you’ll work alongside experienced civil engineers to support water resource projects and their design. This is a great opportunity to grow your technical skills, contribute to sustainable engineering practices, and make a meaningful impact in communities.

A Water Engineer in Training (EIT) will work under the direct supervision of project management and design engineers and will have the opportunity to develop skills in report preparation, design, plans and specifications, construction observation, and construction administration, with an emphasis on personal/career development.

Responsibilities
  • Perform construction observation and administration on water and municipal related projects
  • Assist Project Manager with the development and preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates
  • Assist project managers in design and construction of pipelines, storage tanks, pump stations, treatment systems, rural water, and municipal facilities
  • Assist in preparation of technical reports
  • Maintain project and company tracking information
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Fundamentals in Engineering certified or ability to obtain
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to travel as required
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • AutoCAD or Civil 3D experience
  • 1-2 years of experience/internship on water, wastewater, or rural water projects
Physical Qualifications
  • Ability to walk up to 3-miles on uneven terrain
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • May be required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to, flame resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear
  • May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload
  • May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town
