Base Salary: $85,500 to $136,989 annually DOE.

Job Summary

The Manager, Outside Plant (OSP) Engineering will be responsible for managing OSP Engineering activities performed by both Ziply employees and engineering vendors, ensuring that work performed meets or exceeds quality standards and projects are completed per design, on‑time and within the allocated budget. This position requires strong teamwork within the Construction Department, as well as cross‑collaboration with other departments across the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Team Management – Lead an OSP Engineering team and provide leadership and mentorship through coaching, feedback, development goals and performance management.
  • Engineering Oversight & Compliance – Accountable for staffing, schedules and compliance of OSP engineering and construction activities, ensuring safety and quality; oversee production of engineering work orders, ensure compliance with company standards, NESC, municipal requirements, public ROW or utility easements; confirm project cost estimates; release work orders to Construction on time.
  • Permitting, Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement – Identify permitting authorities, oversee permit applications; develop, coordinate and execute project schedules with contractors, property management, customers, vendors, internal stakeholders, municipalities and government agencies; coordinate internal meetings to ensure communication and alignment.
  • Financial & Administrative Management – Verify contractor invoices for accuracy and process to AP in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as required to support the business and evolving organization.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of outside plant (OSP) experience, including quoting, permitting and pre‑construction activities.
  • Developed leadership skills with ability to mentor and lead others.
  • Experience using fiber optic network documentation tools.
  • Advanced understanding of permitting processes for railroad, DOT, cities, counties and pole owners.
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance and satisfactory driving record.
  • Pre‑employment drug screening required.
  • Experience managing capital budgets.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Computer competency, proficiency with Microsoft Suite and database programs.
  • Typing speed minimum 40 WPM.
  • Outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work independently, applying sound judgment to various situations.
  • Multi‑tasking and effective collaboration to meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with diverse teams and external customers.
  • Professional manner and appearance.
  • Occasional overnight travel.
