We're hiring a full-time Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in Great Falls, MT. Join a long-established, multi-office civil engineering firm to perform and lead boundary, cadastral, hydraulic, topographic, ALTA, and construction surveys; process data in Trimble Business Center and Civil 3D; and prepare compliant maps, plats, and legal descriptions. Responsibilities- Conduct boundary, cadastral, hydraulic, topographic, ALTA, and construction surveys/staking for public and private projects
- Perform field data collection with GPS, robotic total stations, and related survey equipment
- Process and analyze survey data using Trimble Business Center and Autodesk Civil 3D
- Prepare and review survey maps, plats, legal descriptions, and technical reports
- Ensure deliverables comply with local, state, and federal regulations and standards
- Interpret zoning laws, subdivision regulations, deeds, and property records to determine boundaries
- Review and verify survey calculations, data accuracy, and mapping quality control
Collaborate with engineers, architects, developers, and government agencies on land development, infrastructure, and construction projects - Support construction staking and layout for civil and site projects
- Manage workload and deadlines while communicating progress with project managers and clients
- Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in Montana
- 3+ years of experience as a licensed PLS (preferred)
- Associate’s degree in surveying or equivalent from an accredited postsecondary institution (preferred)
- Proficiency with Trimble Business Center and Autodesk Civil 3D; familiarity with AutoCAD and Carlson Survey a plus
- Strong field skills with GPS, robotic total stations, and standard survey practices
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects, deadlines, and client needs in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and collaborative, with willingness to work under guidance of experienced Project Managers
