AWS is an environmental consulting firm located in Great Falls, Montana. We provide engineering, environmental science, and industrial hygiene consulting services to a wide variety of commercial and residential clients throughout Montana and in other nearby states. AWS was established in 2020 by founding members with environmental consulting roots in the Great Falls area dating back to the mid-1990s, and our core group has worked together for over a decade.

Our combined experiences working for a variety of firms ranging in size from very small to very large provided invaluable perspectives as we established AWS. These experiences, and our experiences at AWS, continually inform our approach to maintaining our company’s identity and goals. Our identity as a firm flows from the pursuit of our primary goals: bringing value to our clients and bringing value to our colleagues.

We believe these goals are intimately linked – their order of importance is best described as “1a” and “1b,” because neither goal can be fully achieved without also achieving the other. We work hard to be a trusted advisor for each of our clients, bringing value by helping them reach regulatory compliance through careful planning, defensible acquisition and interpretation of data, and excellent communication.

While we strive to bring value to our clients, we also aim to help each of our colleagues support themselves and their families, and to realize their own professional fulfillment as members of our team.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

First and foremost, we are looking for an individual who identifies with AWS’s identity and goals. We have families and financial obligations too, so we understand and respect that this is the main impetus for most people as they seek employment. However, we want to enjoy our days at work as much as possible, and we want the same for our colleagues.

A successful applicant will be interested in their own success, but they will also be interested in helping AWS consistently provide value to our clients and our team. Additional minimum and preferred requirements are listed below.

  • Relevant college degree in a physical science or related field.
  • Good observation, documentation, and note taking skills.

  • Operate and trouble-shoot electrical and mechanical field equipment.
  • Safely conduct strenuous work tasks, including lifting and carrying up to ~50 pounds.
  • Ability and willingness to work alone or on small teams, in highly variable conditions.

  • 2+ years of work experience in the environmental consulting or remediation industry, especially relating to the investigation and remediation of soil and groundwater contamination, including collection of soil, water, and air samples for field and laboratory analyses.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING, AND WHERE

  • This full-time position is based in our Great Falls, Montana, office location, and will require frequent travel and periodic overnight, out-of-town, stays. Team members are required to maintain a valid driver’s license with a good driving record, along with the ability to initially pay for travel and miscellaneous business expenses (for example: fuel, meals, lodging, supplies, etc.).
