the easterseals-goodwill finance team is looking for a controller to oversee accounting operations in our four-state territory, 22 retail locations, and five program service lines that easterseals-goodwill offers. This position is responsible for planning, directing, and administering the day-to-day accounting and treasury functions in accordance with the organization’s mission, vision, and values. It oversees the organization’s accounting department operations, which include accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, and general ledger functions.

It manages the monthly financial statement preparation for esgw and coordination of all financial audits. The role works with the payroll department to ensure timely payments to employees and filing of payroll and 401k reports. It is responsible for assessing current accounting operations and leading the team through process improvement initiatives, maintains a strong system of internal controls to safeguard the organization’s property while adhering to board policies, and manages the annual budgeting process and monitors performance against budget.

The role works cross-functionally with esgw leadership to determine and meet reporting and analytic needs and promotes a culture of integrity, teamwork, and customer service within the department. This position reports to the assistant vp of finance.

• knowledge of and experience with financial analysis, performance indicators, variance analysis, cost analysis, and budget monitoring.

• 5+ years
• general nonprofit accounting experience preferred.
• cpa preferred.
• experience in managing project timelines and internal/external resources.
• bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
