Headquartered in Great Falls, Montana, Benefis Health System is seeking a progressive and accomplished hospital/health system executive to serve as its next Chief Financial Officer. As the largest nonprofit healthcare provider and one of the largest employers in north-central Montana, Benefis is recognized for long-term operational stability, disciplined financial stewardship, and a deeply mission-driven culture. This represents an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished healthcare finance executive to join a highly respected integrated delivery system.

With revenue of approximately $800 million, Benefis operates a comprehensive continuum of care that includes four campuses in Great Falls, critical access hospitals in Choteau and Fort Benton, outpatient clinics in Helena and Lewistown, and a large employed medical group of more than 425 physicians and advanced practice clinicians. The organization provides more than 226 staffed acute-care beds, in addition to senior services, rehabilitation, home health, hospice, assisted living, and affordable senior housing.

The system is nationally recognized for quality outcomes and specialty care services, including cardiovascular care, oncology, orthopedics, women’s and children’s services, behavioral health, trauma services, and air medical transport through Benefis Mercy Flight. Benefis also continues to expand its innovative senior services platform through Sanavita luxury independent living and The Benefis Village, a groundbreaking dementia care model.

Reporting directly to President & CEO John Goodnow, the Chief Financial Officer will serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and strategic advisor to senior leadership on all financial matters.

The CFO will oversee all financial functions across the health system, including:

• Financial reporting and analysis
• Accounting and treasury
• Revenue cycle oversight (managed through Ensemble)
• Budgeting and forecasting
• Capital planning and financial strategy
• Financial systems and internal controls
• Operational and performance improvement initiatives

The successful candidate will bring significant healthcare finance leadership experience within complex integrated delivery systems and a deep understanding of hospital operations, physician enterprise finance, senior services, home care, reimbursement, and regulatory compliance. The ideal leader will be collaborative, transparent, operationally focused, and capable of providing clear financial insight that supports strategic decision-making across the organization.
