SUMMARY:
The Community Connections Events Coordinator is responsible for collaborating with the Superintendent and Cabinet on internal and external communications, and for enhancing two-way communications between the community and the school district, in line with the District's comprehensive Communication Plan. The coordinator will plan and organize school-based events and publicize/promote these events to the internal and external community.
The Community Connections coordinator directly reports to the Superintendent and delegates responsibilities by the Cabinet Executive Team. The work year of this position is 190 days - 20 hrs/week annually, which may include evening or weekend events that are directly related to Essential Functions. with provisions for benefits cited in the current school district personnel policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in a relevant field preferred
- Experience in on or more of the following areas preferred
- Non-Profit organization
- Fundraising
- Communications or public relations
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of public information and outreach.
- Demonstrated ability to be a creative, goal-oriented, strategic thinker with a collaborative, proactive attitude
- Ability to write well
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with others to include the facilitation of large and small group processes
- Demonstrated ability to work with business, community, and public entities
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective oral and written correspondence, proposals, marketing materials, grants, and solicitations
- Demonstrated strong organizational skills with the ability to function independently
- Knowledge of volunteer management techniques
- Ability to effectively use software and programs standard to the position
- Knowledge of the basic practices of confidentiality to include knowing the difference between private and public information
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Advertise and promote school-based events and activities
- Meet weekly with the Superintendent and Cabinet to develop and implement an ongoing communications plan using social media and traditional communications tools to inform the public regarding events, activities and issues related to Great Falls Public Schools.
- Produce and distribute public information and press releases on an as-needed basis.
- Function as the POC for local media.
- Assist HR and Cabinet with recruitment and retention events for faculty and staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
- Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
- Lifting for the purpose of moving equipment and supplies related to events.
- Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
- Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
- The worker is subject to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, such as weather temperature changes.
- The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
- The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work.)
SALARY: $35,643.00 (pro-rated for remainder of the year)
EMPLOYMENT: 20 hours weekly
210 days annually
May include evenings and weekends
