Job Description / Responsibilities

As a Respiratory Therapist in this role, you will be responsible for providing critical respiratory care to patients of all ages. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to assess, treat, and manage patients with various respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions, ensuring high‑quality care and positive patient outcomes.

  • Administer respiratory therapy treatments, including oxygen therapy, ventilator management, and aerosolized medications.
  • Perform diagnostic tests such as pulmonary function tests, arterial blood gas analysis, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Educate patients and their families on respiratory care practices, home care, and disease management.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to create and implement individualized care plans.
  • Monitor and assess patient progress, adjusting therapies as needed.
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide life‑saving interventions when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date patient records, including treatment plans and diagnostic results.
  • Ensure respiratory equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Adhere to all hospital safety protocols and infection‑control guidelines.
Education & Certification Requirements
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Respiratory Therapy (RRT or CRT) certification through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
  • State licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in Montana.
  • 1+ years of experience in respiratory therapy, ideally in a clinical or hospital setting.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Expertise in administering respiratory therapy treatments and diagnostic procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of respiratory diseases, patient care techniques, and therapies.
  • Ability to assess, monitor, and adjust patient care based on clinical feedback.
  • Effective communication skills for patient education and teamwork.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and remain calm during emergencies.
  • Compassionate, patient‑centered approach to care.
