Event Manager / Planner
Technical and supervisory responsibility for providing overall administration of the City’s aquatic facilities and programs. Work is performed under the general direction of the Aquatics Coordinator.
- Hires, trains, schedules, organizes, supervises, coordinates and implements the staffing and daily operations of several pool locations to ensure continuity of operations.
- Provides support, instruction, supervision and guidance to temporary employees to ensure all shift schedules are properly staffed.
- Directs or performs equipment scheduling, daily financial transactions, chemical testing, purchasing and facility cleaning to properly maintain all aquatic facilities.
- Promotes and publicizes the City’s aquatic facilities by working with local organizations and the media to advertise new programs and special events.
- Develops and implements new programs and services to expand the level of service offered to the public.
- Assists with training and oversight of Concessions and Cashiers.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Education, training or experience equivalent to an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management or a related field is preferred.
- Two years of experience in aquatic programs, including supervisory experience.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Water Safety Instructor certification or ability to attain certification.
- CPR and First Aid certification or ability to attain certification.
- Lifeguard Management Training or ability to attain certification.
- Employee must possess a valid Montana driver’s license.
- Substantial knowledge of the principles and practices of aquatic program administration.
- Thorough knowledge of the use and application of water rescue methods, lifesaving and first aid practices and techniques.
- Ability to supervise, assign, train, and direct the work of other employees.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, vendors and the general public.

This position supervises pools employees.
WORK ENVIRONMENTWhile performing the duties of this position, employees may be exposed to adverse weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and wind and to chemicals used in cleaning and sanitation of pools.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, bend, crawl, twist, reach, ride and perform similar body movements. Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at a time; the possession of hand/eye coordination sufficient to operate a computer, pool equipment and a motor vehicle;
the ability to talkand hear in person or by telephone; and the ability to see and read instructions and reports.
The position is a temporary position with work conducted during the spring and summer months and not to exceed six months. The work schedule is a 40-hour workweek, Sunday through Saturday. This position is non-exempt and is eligible for overtime with prior approval by a supervisor.
