Progressive Care Nurse - Night/Day Shift

Job Description

The Progressive Care Nurse will deliver care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients in a medical/surgical unit. This role encompasses providing physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural support to patients. Anticipated patient populations include, but are not limited to, pediatrics, pre and post-PCI care, pacemaker, revascularization, carotid endarterectomy, thoracotomy, CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT, PE, sepsis, and various surgical services.

Nurses will manage patients in relative stability while being vigilant for potential deterioration in conditions, requiring skilled assessment and intervention.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care from admission to discharge, including discharge planning.
  • Operate advanced medical equipment and care for patients with central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, arterial lines, multiple IVs, and those requiring short-term ventilation support.
  • Collaborate with other professional disciplines to enhance patient care delivery and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Assess and implement established policies and procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Act as a clinical leader and assist with precepting staff.
  • Give directions to RN, LPN, CNA, housekeeping, and dietary staff while receiving directions from providers, charge nurses, and the Chief Nursing Officer.
  • Support the Medical Surgical Nursing Unit as required by staffing actions.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
  • Current State of Montana RN Licensure.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS certification required or to be obtained within six months of hire.
  • EPNC, TNCC certification preferred.
  • Experience in pediatric care and post-heart catheterization is preferred.
  • Ability to manage common IV medications such as Heparin, Diltiazem, Dobutamine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, and Dopamine.
