The Lab Technician, under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, performs work involving the testing of the product to ensure it meets customer requirements. The main responsibility includes conducting quality assurance tests to ensure malt meets the customer’s standards and requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Performs laboratory research/tasks.
- Records observations, measurements, and reports results.
- Responsible for maintenance and cleaning of laboratory and associated instrumentation and equipment.
- Assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials, ordering and stocking.
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
- Assess lab test result validity prior to reporting to manufacturing or customers.
- Verify and issue customer reports.
- Maintain and improve lab operations by assisting in the development of lab employees and coordinating the maintenance and purchase of lab equipment.
- Compare lab test results with expected outcomes to evaluate test result validity prior to reporting.
- Works every other weekend or as needed.
- Provide technical support to the sales function by preparing special samples and analytical information.
- Education:
High Diploma required;
Associate degree in Food Science or Chemistry is a plus.
The employee must wear safety glasses and appropriate heat, chemical or cut resistant gloves in the lab, depending on duties assigned. Safety shoes, safety glasses and a hard hat and a full face respirator are required if working in manufacturing areas.
