Lead Technician (Avionics) – Great Falls, MT
The Lead Technician (Avionics) reports directly to the Production Manager and is responsible for managing the work scope, scheduling tasks, ensuring quality and safety, and providing technical leadership to the aviation maintenance crew.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Execute the project plan for your area of expertise as provided by the Project Manager.
- Manage the work scope for your area of expertise within the project budget as set out by the Project Manager.
- Review work cards for your area of expertise and ensure the work package reflects the actual status of the project.
- Ensure crew members bill their time to projects appropriately and that all time is accounted for.
- Assign and schedule tasks to technicians based on skill set, as directed by the Project Manager and in accordance with Avmax policies and procedures.
- Monitor workers allocated to your control and provide clear instructions, guidance and technical assistance to the crew.
- Carry out tasks on the aircraft when other Lead Technician duties are accomplished.
- Ensure all partial work documentation is completed and stands alone without reliance on external notes.
- Verify daily timecards.
- Ensure crew members work productively throughout their shift.
- Ensure crew members follow Avmax policies & procedures, including safety policies.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment and orderly condition of equipment.
- Ensure equipment used is serviceable and handled safely.
- Provide on‑the‑job training, orientation and direction to apprentices and technicians; may delegate this to qualified technicians.
- Administer performance reviews, salary recommendations and progressive discipline of assigned crew.
- Note:
If not certified under 14 CFR Part 65 and/or does not meet 14 CFR 145.153, defer any direction of certificated mechanics to the Project Manager.
- Review and fully familiarize yourself with all aspects of the Avmax RSQCM and Training Manual; compliance is mandatory.
- Work well with individuals throughout the organization.

- Attend training courses as directed by company management.
- Execute continuous improvement recommendations.
- Demonstrated capability and competency in the field of expertise.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong fundamental aircraft knowledge.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to manage employees effectively.
- Ability to work with predictive budgets.
- Physical demands: occasional lifting of 50 pounds, bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing ladders, standing extended periods, working at heights >10 feet with fall restraint equipment.
- Must be certified under 14 CFR Part 65 for the work being supervised.
3–5 years of experience in the field.
